Staying warm in winter, MP style

Found via Shanghaiist, this clip shows how one group of Chinese military police warmed themselves through a winter training session. I'm left wondering how effective this actually is. Let the war games begin, gentleman.

I have seen pictures of PLA exercises in the snow too. In bright green camouflage. I think they make great targets in the white snow. And no gloves. Black boots. Exposed face. No armour. I wonder how long they will survive in -30C weather fighting the Russians in their white camo, full gloves and face masks ?
