For great music in Beijing, the place to be over the next couple of nights is Star Live (星光现场). Thanks to a four day trade mission that aims to strengthen relationships between the Chinese and Canadian music industries, the likes of Buck 65, You Say Party! We Say Die! and exciting electro-pop duo Woodhands will hit the stage on May 28th and 29th. Pet Conspiracy, Casino Demon, Caffe In, Life Journey and many others will also appear alongside to lend a bit of local flavour. And best of all, the two nights of music are totally FREE. But you may need to register before you go. In the meantime, here's Woodhands with Can't See Straight:



You may not need to register because most of the related information provided isn't correct. The numbers offered here connect you to operators that say tickets are only available though the organizers, while no one responds to messages delivered to the email address provided. Meanwhile, the booking number on offer here doesn't exist. 

BUT as luck would have it, we managed to get in touch with the organizer, TNT Productions. A very helpful--and indeed concerned--organizer suggested that if none of the booking options work, it's OK to show up without registering for the shows. Good news.

If they do, however, manage to straighten things out before this evening, registering for the event might not be a bad idea. The first option is calling 010-6425 5677 (Chinese) or 010-6426 4436 ext 13 (English) to book your tickets. Another is to email transmitchina@yahoo.cn and tell them:

1. Your favorite Canadian artist and
2. Your favorite Chinese artist

This is going to be a great, great couple of shows folks. Doors open at 8:30 on both nights.
