BEIJING - So it seems that during the Olympics some of us lucky souls will be treated to free wireless Internet throughout certain areas of central Beijing according to this report.  There is approximately 100 sq km  covered, and these areas include: second and third ring roads, the CBD, Financial Street, Zhongguan Cun  and the Wangjing Economic and Technological Development Zone.

Apparently from today people in these areas can get online, and when the Olympics roll around the service will be free.  China Comm, the company behind the project, intend to cover the whole area within the fifth ring road before 2009 then cover the whole city by the end of 2010.
