BEIJING - Just thought we'd point you to an amusing piece from the Daily Show, in which former CCTV Biz China anchor Rui Chenggang is interviewed by Rob Riggle.
The piece pokes fun at the economic relationship between the United States and China, using Rui as a punch line from time to time. This isn't the first time Rui Chenggang has made news.
Unfortunately we are unable to embed the video on this site, so you can find it here. It begins about 6:23 into the show.

For someone who rails at the US so much and foreign influence, it may be interesting for readers to know that Rui is the very happy owner of a US green card. In private dinners with foreigners present, he talks about how he faked out the authorities in the US to get one.
Many Chinese despise him, and found his anti-Starbucks' campaign to be silly, especially given the fact that the franchisee was Taiwanese and the government could have closed the facility in a minute but chose not to. There is even a story that Rui knew it was going to be closed soon because of new regulations and chose that moment to proclaim his patriotism to save his job at CCTV. |
