BEIJING - Lawyer Zheng Baichun has established his own website for all the mistresses (二奶) in China. It is called Er Nai Wei Quan. “Wei Quan" means “ defend the rights”, meaning he speaks out for pretty young mistresses who serve as second wives for rich bosses and high officials. Usually thse young girls receive money and a high living standard in return.
Zheng has drawn a lot of attention after writing an article on his website about how the head of the State Taxation Bureau got his mistress (the website has since been blocked). He says he wrote the article to defend the rights of mistresses. He is now facing a lawsuit, according to a report in the Jing Hua Times.
According to the report, the head of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region Taxation Bureau, Mr. Liu, sued the lawyer. He claimed that he had seen several articles, such as “How the head of the taxation bureau asked taxpayers to bribe him” and “How the head of the taxation bureau gets mistresses" on a website. He then called the website and asked them to delete the posts. After a few days, those posts returned. Mr Liu said these had disturbed his personal life, as well as the lives of his friends and relatives. So he sued the website for RMB 1.3 million.
Zheng said the mistress in his articles, Miss Zhang, had contacted him first. Miss Zhang had actually written the stories and had asked Zheng to post them on the website. "Miss Zhang promised the story was true, so we agreed to post them," he said. "I never thought these articles would draw so much attention; even the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the state taxation bureau has called to ask about it.”
The description of Zheng's website is this: "Mistresses are common people too, they have rights! We are the first website to help mistresses defend their own rights and we are the first to provide legal services for mistresses."
Indeed, mistresses are considered a vulnerable group in society. They face high officials and rich bosses who have much more power. However, should we be showing our compassion to mistresses?
